Tesla paint is known to be thin, and the front of a Tesla picks up stone chips early. Paint protection film is a clear or matte self-healing film bonded over the paint, so chips, road grime and light scratches mark the film instead of the paint. More than 100 Teslas have come through our workshop in the past couple of years, so we know where the film has to finish on each model.
Thin paint, early chips
The film takes the stone chips. The paint underneath stays as it left the factory.
The film is multi-layered: a self-healing top coat over a thick TPU layer. Stones and grime off the freeway mark the film, light scratches and wash swirls close up with warmth from the sun, and a Tesla that gets film on day one still has factory paint under it when you sell it.
A deep impact can still mark the film and, rarely, the paint under it. The film on that panel is replaced on its own, and we check the paint before anything else is quoted.
What comes off
Mirrors, window trims, camera housings and badges come off before the film goes on.
We fit the film to the bare panel underneath and refit everything over it. That is what makes the film invisible on a Tesla: no cut-outs around a camera housing, no edge beside a badge or a mirror for dirt to collect along, and nothing fitted over a camera lens.
The cameras see exactly what they saw before. Nothing is fitted over a lens.
Self-healing film
Light scratches and swirl marks close up with heat. Cuts through the top coat do not, and we check those.
Two finishes
Keep the factory gloss, or change the whole look of the car with matte film. Same protection either way.

Every Tesla model
Whichever Tesla you drive, the panel list is confirmed for your car before the film is cut.
After a colour change or business branding on a Tesla instead? Those are on the Tesla wrap page.
Film and finish
Gloss film keeps the colour as it is. Matte film changes the whole car.
Clear gloss film disappears on the car and keeps the factory finish. Matte film is the one most Tesla owners ask us about: it changes the look of a Tesla without changing the colour. We fit a free sample of each to your own paint, so you decide with the film in front of you.
Keep the factory look
Clear gloss PPF
Clear gloss film brings out the depth of the original colour and gives the car a freshly detailed look. Fitted on the front alone or across every painted panel, it is invisible from a normal viewing distance.

Matte PPF
Matte film softens the reflections, so the body lines of a Tesla stand out, and the colour underneath stays the same. We fit it as a Full Vehicle package: matte on the front alone leaves a visible line where the gloss doors begin.

Coverage details
The panoramic glass roof, windows and unpainted trim are not painted panels and sit outside the scope. Your written quote lists the panels for your model.
The model and year, the colour, gloss or matte, and the condition of the paint if the car is already on the road. A Tesla that needs a full cut and polish, or more involved hardware removal, takes work beyond the standard preparation and is quoted before we start.
The film finishes under the hardware, not beside it.
On a Tesla the mirrors, the window trims, the camera housings and the badges come off, the film goes onto the bare panel, and everything goes back on over the film. Every corner is wrapped rather than notched. It takes longer, and it is why you cannot find the film on the car.
01
We remove the hardware
What we do
The mirrors, window trims, camera housings and badges come off the covered panels. The film is fitted to the bare panel and the hardware goes back on over it.
The benefit
No cut-outs around a badge or a camera housing, and no edge beside a mirror for dirt to build up along. Nothing sits over a camera lens.
02
We wrap the edges and corners
What we do
Our templates are extended so the film wraps around the accessible edges of the bonnet, the fenders and the doors and tucks under the trim, instead of stopping a few millimetres short.
The benefit
No exposed edge for a wash to catch on and no line to find at the panel edge. Keep a pressure lance away from the edges all the same, and the corners stay clean for years.
Why we fit it this way on a Tesla
Cameras untouched
The housings come off and go back on over the film. The driver assistance cameras see exactly what they saw before.
Sharp body lines
The film is worked into the creases of the panels rather than bridged across them, so the finish reads as paint.
Worth the extra time
Fitting this way is slower than a standard install. The look on the day, and the edges years later, are why we do it.
Panel shape and access decide where the film can finish. Up close, an edge or a join may still be visible on some panels.
Bring the car in if you have it. Meet the team, walk through the shop, look at the Teslas in progress and inspect the edges and corners up close on real jobs.

And your questions. If the car is already on the road, tell us about any coating, repairs or stone chips so we can assess the paint while you are here.
Waiting on delivery, or in regional WA?
Choose a phone consultation. We go through the model, the coverage and the timing before the car arrives or before you travel, and the fitted sample waits until you have the car.
How to plan around the delivery date, what happens to the car while it is with us, and when it comes back.

Step 1 of 4
Confirm the model and the timing
Before the booking · workshop or phone
Tell us the model, year and colour, and whether the car has arrived or is on order. That lets us confirm the panel list for your version of the car.
We agree the film, the finish and a written quote, then hold workshop dates around the delivery. A Full Front is usually a three-day booking and a Full Vehicle a week. Mention window tinting if you want both done in the one visit.
We assess the paint on arrival: marks, chips, previous repairs and any existing coating. A new Tesla and one with a few thousand kilometres on it can need different preparation.
The car is washed and the painted panels get a light polish, so the film goes on over corrected paint. Deeper correction is quoted and agreed first, so you know what will remain visible under the film.

Step 3 of 4
Fit the film
Hardware off, film on, hardware back on
Mirrors, window trims, camera housings and badges come off the covered panels. The film goes on across the agreed panels, worked around the shape of each one, with templates extended to wrap the edges.
The panel list separates painted panels from the panoramic glass and unpainted trim, so a Full Vehicle booking never implies glass coverage. Every edge, corner and refitted part is checked under the inspection lights before the car is ready.

Step 4 of 4
Collect the car, then come back for the check
Collection day, then 1 to 2 weeks later
At handover we walk you through the covered panels and how to wash and look after the gloss or matte film, with the care guide to take home. A light haze under the film in the first days is normal and clears as it dries.
The car comes back 1 to 2 weeks later. Once the film has dried we inspect it again and seal the edges. Allow for that return visit if you are travelling to Osborne Park from regional WA.
Plan for drop-off, collection and the check-up 1 to 2 weeks later. Tell us where you are travelling from and we confirm the dates around it. Ask about a courtesy car when you book.
Ceramic window tinting
Tint the windows while the car is with us.
Ceramic film cuts the solar heat coming through the glass. In a Tesla, with this much glass, that matters in a Perth summer.
Book it with the PPF and both jobs are done in the one visit, so the car is off the road once. Tell us which windows and the shade you want when you enquire, and we plan the two jobs together.
From $300
Including GST. The windows included and the film are confirmed in the quote.

Tesla paint protection film questions
Choosing PPF for a Tesla in Perth.
Last reviewed 1 October 2026
How much does Tesla paint protection film cost in Perth?
Our Tesla Full Front package is from $2,850 and Full Vehicle is from $6,050, both including GST. Full Vehicle covers every primary painted panel plus the headlights. The year, the colour, gloss or matte and the paint condition are confirmed on the car, and the written quote lists the panels for your model.
Is PPF worth it on a Tesla?
If stone chips and light scratches bother you and you want the factory paint still original when you sell, yes. Tesla paint is known to be thin and the front picks up chips early, which is why film on the front is the most common Tesla job in our workshop. Full Front covers the front of the car; Full Vehicle adds the sides, the rear and the roof panels. Neither makes the car damage-proof; a deep chip can still mark the film, and that panel's film is then replaced without repainting.
Can I buy paint protection film from Tesla instead?
Tesla's Australian shop sells a small film kit for the rear door and fender area, which is different in scope from a Full Front or Full Vehicle installation. Check Tesla's current kit for what it covers. Our packages cover the bonnet, bumper, fenders and headlights, or every painted panel, with the hardware removed so the film finishes underneath it.
Does PPF affect my Tesla warranty?
Film sits on top of the paint and comes off again; it changes nothing mechanical or electrical. Tesla's Australian warranty excludes damage caused by non-genuine accessories and their installation, so a claim is assessed on whether the work caused the fault. That is why professional installation and removal matter. Tesla's warranty guidance has the detail, and the film warranty and our workmanship cover are separate from it. Ask us before you book and we will walk you through how the panels and cameras are handled.
Will the film affect the cameras or Autopilot?
No. Nothing is fitted over a camera lens. The camera housings come off with the mirrors, window trims and badges, the film goes onto the panel underneath, and the housings go back on over it. The driver assistance systems see exactly what they did before.
My Tesla is arriving soon. How do I organise PPF and window tinting together?
Send us the model, year, colour and the expected delivery date, the coverage you are considering, and mention ceramic window tinting in the notes. We confirm both jobs and hold dates around the delivery, so the car comes to us once and goes home with both done.
I drive my Tesla on the freeway every day. Is Full Front enough?
Full Front covers the front bumper, headlights, bonnet, front fenders, mirrors and A-pillars, which is where a commuting car takes nearly all of its stone chips. It leaves the doors, rear quarters and rear bumper bare. Choose Full Vehicle if protecting those matters to you too, or if you want a matte finish, which we only fit as a full car.
PPF or a ceramic coating for a new Tesla?
PPF is a physical film over the paint, and it is what stops stone chips and light scratches. A ceramic coating adds gloss, easier washing and chemical resistance, with no impact protection. Plenty of Teslas run film on the front and a coating over the rest. Our PPF vs ceramic coating guide goes through the decision properly. Ceramic window tint is a separate product, for the glass.
My Tesla already has a coating or a few stone chips. Can it still have PPF?
Yes, and we assess the paint first. Tell us when the coating was applied and point out the chips, scratches or repaired panels. The surface needs the right preparation, and film will not hide existing damage, so we explain what can be improved and what will remain visible before we quote the work.
I live outside Perth. How many visits will the car need?
Plan for drop-off, collection and a return check 1 to 2 weeks after collection, when we inspect the dried film and seal the edges. You can go through the coverage by phone first. Tell us where you are travelling from and we confirm the installation dates and the follow-up around it.
