Colour and finish

Choose from more than 300 colours and finishes

Start with the look you want and we will match the film to it.

One combined range across coloured PPF and cast vinyl

Vinyl Wrapz can source more than 300 combined options across coloured PPF and cast vinyl, including gloss, satin, matte, metallic, pearl, colour-shift, textured and special-order finishes. Availability varies by product and supplier.

Choose the final colour beside the vehicle

Screens are useful for making a shortlist. Physical film shows the real gloss, texture and colour movement under workshop light and against the vehicle's factory paint. Bring the vehicle to the consultation and make the final choice with the material in front of you.

Special-order and custom options

If the right finish is outside the active range, Vinyl Wrapz can investigate a special-order film or develop a custom colour for the project. A physical sample, availability, lead time and price are confirmed before the vehicle is booked.

Coloured PPF or cast vinyl?

Traditional cast vinyl is the established industry material for Colour Changes. In WA, UV exposure is an important factor in material selection. The coloured PPF films we generally recommend carry a substantially longer manufacturer warranty than cast vinyl so you get the best of both worlds - the looks and the protection.

Vinyl Wrapz recommendation for Perth

Coloured PPF

  • Changes the colour and adds paint protection in one film.
  • Available in a growing range of gloss, satin, matte, metallic, pearl and effect finishes, depending on the active supplier range.
  • Recommended for owners who want a different colour with protection included.
  • Product warranty: 7 to 10 years depending on the product and finish, under the manufacturer's written terms.

Available alternative

Premium cast vinyl

  • The established industry material for cosmetic Colour Change wrapping.
  • Offers a broad off-the-shelf selection of gloss, satin, matte, metallic and effect finishes.
  • Adds a removable surface barrier, but it is not a substitute for stone-chip PPF.
  • Suits a project when the preferred appearance is vinyl-only or the budget favours vinyl.
  • Product warranty: 2 to 5 years depending on the product and finish, under the manufacturer's written terms.

Warranty and lifespan are two different things

The product warranty covers the film under the manufacturer's written terms. How long a wrap keeps looking good depends on how the car lives: garaged during the day or out in the elements around the clock, and how often it is washed and looked after. If a shop quotes a longer warranty than the figures above, ask to see the manufacturer's written terms.

Coverage

What does a full Colour Change include?

The standard Vinyl Wrapz scope is a complete closed-door exterior Colour Change. Open-door coverage is available when the original colour inside the openings would interrupt the result enough to justify the extra work.

Standard and recommended

Closed-door complete exterior

  • Covers every agreed exterior surface visible with the doors, bonnet and tailgate closed.
  • Returns film around suitable edges and corners for a deep external finish.
  • Includes vehicle-specific removal and reassembly where needed for access.
  • Leaves the original colour inside the door jambs and other inner openings.
  • Often works especially well over neutral factory black, white or grey paint.

Available by request

Open-door and inner-opening coverage

  • Extends the new colour into agreed jambs and visible inner openings.
  • Requires substantially more disassembly, film and installation time.
  • Starts from $12,500 including GST, where the closed-door scope starts from $7,490.
  • Is normally recommended only when the original colour would noticeably interrupt the finished appearance.

Pricing guide

How much does a full Colour Change wrap cost in Perth?

Starting prices for a full colour change by coverage, including GST.

Standard scope

Closed-door Colour Change

From $7,490 incl. GST

  • Every exterior panel you see with the doors, bonnet and boot shut, in coloured PPF or premium cast vinyl.
  • The removal and refitting needed for access, with film returned around suitable edges.
  • The original colour stays inside the door jambs and other inner openings.

By request

Open-door Colour Change

From $12,500 incl. GST

  • Everything in the closed-door scope, with the new colour carried into the agreed door jambs and inner openings.
  • Considerably more dismantling, film and installation time, which is what the higher starting price covers.
  • Worth it when the original colour would show inside the openings. On black, white or grey paint, closed-door is usually the better value.

Both are starting prices on a vehicle with sound paint. Vehicle size, special-order film and any approved preparation move the figure, and we confirm it in writing once we have inspected the car and agreed the scope with you.

What affects the final price?

  • Vehicle make, model, variant and OEM colour
  • Film type, colour and finish
  • Paint condition and approved preparation
  • Closed-door or open-door coverage
  • Hardware removal
  • Special-order film or custom design work

The same factors across every service: the vinyl wrap cost guide.

The Vinyl Wrapz process

What to expect

This is how a vehicle moves through our workshop, from the first conversation to handover.

01 Initial conversation

Tell us about the vehicle, its current condition and the appearance you want to achieve. We can explain the coloured PPF, cast vinyl and custom-colour routes, check broad suitability and give you an initial price range before you visit the workshop.

02 Workshop consultation

Bring the vehicle to the workshop so you can compare real colours and finishes against the car rather than choosing from a screen. You can meet the team, see current work in progress and, when the right material is available, view a sample against the vehicle.

03 Inspection and scope

We inspect the paint, bodywork, trim and accessories to confirm that the vehicle is suitable for wrapping. Together, we agree the film, closed-door or open-door coverage, badges, preparation and any other details needed for the final quote.

04 Preparation

The vehicle is thoroughly washed, clay-barred and chemically decontaminated, then lightly polished so the film goes onto a properly prepared surface. Every vehicle gets that light polish. If a full cut and polish or paint correction is needed, we explain why and advise the pricing before any extra work starts.

05 Vehicle-specific disassembly

Most vehicles are fully dismantled by our in-house team. That usually includes bumpers, headlights, tail lights, door handles, trims, window trims, grilles, vents and badges, so the film reaches every edge for a flawless finish and a seamless installation.

06 Installation

This is where the magic happens and where our installers excel. The film layout, panel direction and any joins are planned before the first panel goes on, then each panel is applied with controlled positioning and tension, with every suitable edge and corner wrapped deep.

07 Quality check and handover

Once the job is fully complete and the vehicle is reassembled, the team completes a thorough inspection of the entire job before the vehicle is handed back to you. At collection we walk you through the result and provide washing, maintenance and warranty information for the film installed on your vehicle.

Timing is confirmed after inspection

Most full Colour Changes are booked for around one to two weeks. The confirmed schedule depends on the vehicle, preparation, film availability, coverage and complexity, allowing enough time for the agreed disassembly, installation, reassembly and final check.

Specialist proof

A dedicated vehicle-wrapping workshop in Perth

Colour Change is completed by a team that works with vehicle film every day. Preparation, approved paint correction, vehicle-specific disassembly, installation, reassembly and quality control are managed within the workshop.

Experienced installers

Every Vinyl Wrapz installer has more than six years of installation experience and has worked on hundreds of vehicles. Trainees do not install film on customer vehicles.

In-house preparation and panel removal

Panel removalists, detailers and polishers work with the installation team so the agreed preparation and access are part of one planned job.

Material choice for the actual project

Vinyl Wrapz works across major film suppliers and can investigate special-order products when the active range does not contain the right finish.

One team through handover

The workshop manages preparation, disassembly, installation, reassembly and final inspection instead of passing responsibility between unrelated providers.

Common questions

Colour Change Wrap FAQs

Last reviewed 1 October 2026

What is a full vehicle Colour Change wrap?

It is a coloured PPF or premium cast vinyl installation that changes the complete exterior visible when the vehicle is closed. It creates a reversible new appearance without a permanent repaint.

Is coloured PPF better than vinyl for a Colour Change in Perth?

Vinyl Wrapz recommends coloured PPF first for most Perth Colour Changes because it changes the appearance and adds paint protection in one film. Cast vinyl remains useful when a standard colour, finish or budget makes it the better option. If neither standard range contains the exact look, Vinyl Wrapz can develop a custom colour and finish for the project.

How much does a complete car Colour Change cost in Perth?

A closed-door colour change starts from $7,490 including GST on a hatchback or sedan, and the price is the same whether you choose coloured PPF or premium cast vinyl. Open-door coverage starts from $12,500. Vehicle size, the film and the condition of the paint move the figure from there, and we confirm it in writing after inspecting the car.

Can a wrap hide faded, cracked or peeling paint?

No. Film follows the surface underneath and cannot repair or hide paint failure. The vehicle needs sound paint, which is why Vinyl Wrapz inspects it before confirming the project.

What is the difference between closed-door and open-door coverage?

Closed-door coverage changes the complete exterior visible when the vehicle is shut and leaves the original colour in inner openings. Open-door coverage extends into agreed jambs and openings and takes considerably more work: it starts from $12,500 including GST, where closed-door starts from $7,490.

How long does a full Colour Change take?

Allow around one to two weeks. The confirmed booking length depends on preparation, disassembly, film availability, coverage and vehicle complexity.

How many colours and finishes can I choose from?

Vinyl Wrapz can source more than 300 combined coloured PPF and cast vinyl options. The range includes gloss, satin, matte, metallic, pearl, colour-shift, textured and special-order finishes, subject to current availability.

Do I need to bring the vehicle to the consultation?

Bring it if you can. The team can inspect the paint and body, compare physical film against the actual vehicle and define the coverage more accurately. If you do not have the vehicle yet, you can still book a consultation and bring its exact details.

Is a Colour Change reversible, and can one damaged panel be repaired?

The film can be professionally removed later, and a damaged panel can usually be rewrapped individually. Vinyl Wrapz retains spare film where practical to reduce batch-match differences.

Does Vinyl Wrapz offer partial wraps or standalone accents?

This service is for complete vehicle Colour Changes. Two-tone and detail decisions can be included within a full transformation, but standalone roofs, bonnets, mirrors, stripes, blackouts and chrome deletes are not offered through this page.

How do I care for the film?

Vinyl Wrapz provides washing and maintenance guidance at handover for the exact film installed on the vehicle.

What about repainting?

Repainting is the permanent route for restoration or a permanent colour outcome. Vinyl Wrapz does not offer repainting. It can be the more appropriate option when the existing paint has already failed and needs proper repair.
