Warranty policy
Every job that leaves the workshop is backed three ways: our customer guarantee, our workmanship warranty, and the film manufacturer's warranty on the product itself. This page sets out what each one covers, what keeps it valid and what to do if something isn't right.
100% customer guarantee
If the result isn't right, we make it right. You see the finished job with us at handover, edge by edge under proper lighting, and anything you're not happy with is sorted before you drive away.
12-month workmanship warranty
Our installation is warranted for 12 months: edges, seams, corners, finishing and application. A lifted edge, a bubble that appears after installation or a seam that opens is a workmanship matter, and we fix it.
The manufacturer's warranty on top
The film itself carries its maker's product warranty against defects in the material: adhesion, colour, finish and, for paint protection film, yellowing, cracking and bubbling. Cover and duration depend on the product, and both are named in writing with your quote.
How the three layers work together
The manufacturer stands behind the film: the material's colour, finish and adhesion, on the terms in its published warranty. We stand behind everything we did with it: the preparation, the application and the finishing, warranted for 12 months. Over both sits our customer guarantee. If the result isn't right, talk to us and we make it right.
On Avery Dennison films there is a fourth layer. We're an Avery Dennison ICS certified installer, which means Avery's own installer warranty program stands behind our installation of its film as well as the film itself.
Warranty and life expectancy are two different things
A manufacturer's warranty is a written promise that the film won't fail as a material within a set period: it won't lose its adhesion, crack, or, in the case of paint protection film, go yellow. It is not a prediction of how long the film will look freshly fitted. That depends on how the vehicle lives. A garaged car that's hand washed sits at the long end of the range; a ute parked under trees near bore-water sprinklers sits at the short end, and Perth UV is the main ager in both cases. A film can look good for years beyond its warranty, and a neglected one can be marked well inside it without the manufacturer owing anything.
So when we quote, we give you the warranty term in writing and a straight expectation for your car and how it's kept. The care guide covers the routine that reliably gets the long end of the range.
Keeping the warranty valid
Every manufacturer's warranty assumes the film is looked after in the ways its maker sets out, and you leave with those instructions in writing for your specific film. The rules that matter most:
- Leave a wrap 72 hours before its first wash. Leave paint protection film for one full week with no washing at all, then bring the car back in the first one to two weeks for a free check-up of every edge and corner.
- Hand wash. No brush car washes, and no pressure lance at an edge or a seam. A touchless wash is fine once the first-fortnight rules in the care guide are behind you: a week with no washing at all for paint protection film, a fortnight of hand washing only for a wrap.
- Rinse bird droppings, tree sap and insects off the same day. Left to bake on, they mark film in a way no warranty covers.
- No wax, polish or gloss product on satin, matte or textured film. Talk to us before coating a wrap, because some film makers exclude coated film from their warranty.
- Park in shade where you can. Perth UV is the main thing that ages any film, and horizontal panels feel it first.
Full routines by finish, and the PPF and boat sections, are in the wrap care guide.
What isn't covered
Film protects paint and changes how a vehicle looks. It isn't armour, and it can't fix what's underneath it. Neither the workmanship warranty nor the manufacturer's warranty covers:
- Damage: stone chips, scrapes, accident, vandalism or anything that would have marked the paint just the same.
- Paint that fails underneath the film. Film bonds to your clear coat, and no film warranty covers a clear coat that lets go. We note the paint's condition with you at drop-off and photograph anything we're not confident about.
- Neglect of the care above, including brush washes, pressure washing at the edges and contamination left to bake on.
- Work done on the film by anyone else, including removal, repairs or coatings applied elsewhere.
- Normal weathering. A film outside its manufacturer's term, or one showing the gradual change every material shows in Perth sun, is not a defect.
Damage outside the warranty is still repairable, and usually panel by panel. A damaged section is replaced on its own, so the rest of the vehicle keeps going. Ask us for a price.
What's confirmed with your quote
Warranty cover differs between films and products, so the specifics for your job are confirmed in writing with your itemised quote: the product by name, its warranty duration, what it covers, and any care conditions that keep it valid. At handover you get the warranty paperwork explained in plain terms, along with written care instructions for your film.
Making a claim
Call the workshop on (08) 9443 8808 or use the contact page, with photos if you can. A lifted edge or a bubble is usually quick to sort, and we book it straight back in. Workmanship matters are handled here in the workshop. If it's a fault in the film itself, we assess it, document it and take it up with the manufacturer on your behalf, so you deal with one workshop rather than a supplier.
Please contact us to arrange an inspection at our Osborne Park workshop. Normally, you bring the vehicle to us, including boats on trailers. The inspection and repairs covered by our workmanship warranty are free.
You normally arrange and pay for transport, except where we are required to cover reasonable costs under Australian Consumer Law. If bringing the vehicle in is difficult, contact us first to discuss arrangements. To claim expenses that we are responsible for, send your receipts and claim details to [email protected].
If the film itself is faulty, we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf. The manufacturer's warranty does not limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law or our obligations to you.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
The benefits under our workmanship warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies you have under the law. This warranty is given by Vinyl Wrapz, 18 Rowallan Street, Osborne Park WA 6017, (08) 9443 8808, [email protected].
