Partial Fleet Bus Wrap - Toyota HiAces, Toyota Coaster & Mitsubishi Rosa for PCYC

Commercial Government Wrapping for PCYC

Fleet Graphics | Aboriginal-Inspired Artwork | Vinyl Wrapz Perth

When it comes to government and community-focused vehicle wraps, it’s not just about looks — it’s about representing a mission. That’s why PCYC (Police & Community Youth Centres) engaged Vinyl Wrapz Perth to partially wrap a selection of their fleet with professional, culturally sensitive branding that reflects the incredible work they do across Western Australia.

This project involved a fleet of four vehicles — two Toyota Hiace vans (including one 4×4 variant), one Toyota Coaster bus, and one Mitsubishi Rosa bus — each wrapped with artwork that highlights PCYC’s community values, brand message, and strong Indigenous engagement.

About the Client: PCYC WA

PCYC WA is a non-profit organisation working alongside the WA Police Force and local communities to deliver programs that help young people reach their full potential. Their work includes safe spaces, diversion programs, sport and recreation, and youth development across both metro and regional WA.

As a highly visible public-facing organisation, their vehicles serve a dual purpose: transporting youth safely and visibly communicating their mission wherever they go. The wrap needed to be more than a design — it needed to express the organisation’s values, connect with communities, and stand up to heavy daily use

Project Scope: Fleet-Wide Partial Wraps

This branding project included four distinct vehicle types, each with unique shapes and surfaces:

  • Toyota Hiace 4×4
  • Toyota Hiace Standard
  • Toyota Coaster Bus
  • Mitsubishi Rosa Bus

All four received a partial wrap — a cost-effective, impactful solution that allowed for strong brand visibility without the need for a full-body wrap.

The wrap design was provided by the client, featuring:

  • PCYC’s official branding and slogan
  • High-contrast arrow graphics to convey movement and progression
  • Aboriginal-inspired artwork, reflecting PCYC’s ongoing commitment to working with Indigenous youth and communities
  • Contact details and service messaging, neatly integrated into each layout

Design: Cultural Significance, Colour, and Continuity

The design, provided by PCYC, was one of the standout features of this project. Developed with careful attention to cultural representation, the layout incorporated Aboriginal-inspired graphic elements — including circular motifs and symbolic directional arrows — that aligned with PCYC’s focus on inclusivity and youth engagement.

The design was formatted across multiple templates to adapt to the varying shapes of buses and vans, ensuring consistency in branding while allowing room for adjustment on curved surfaces and panel breaks. We worked closely with the client to ensure proper colour matching during print production, and our team adjusted placements during installation to preserve spacing and balance — especially on the Hiace 4×4, where floating design elements had to align across door gaps and contours.

Every line, logo, and printed component was placed with intention, accuracy, and care.

Installation Challenges & Unique Aspects

This was not a standard fleet job. The combination of government branding, cultural artwork, and vehicle diversity presented a number of challenges that our team met with professionalism and attention to detail.

Key Challenges:

  • Design Accuracy: Ensuring Aboriginal elements were reproduced and aligned exactly as intended, maintaining cultural integrity and avoiding distortion
  • Surface Variability: The buses had large, flatter surfaces, while the Hiaces included curves, seals, and sliding doors requiring flexible layout adjustments
  • Condition Variance: Some vehicles were newer and easier to prep; others required additional cleaning, paint assessment, and edge treatment
  • Fleet Consistency: Despite the differing body styles, the final wraps had to present a cohesive and unified brand presence across the entire fleet

Project Highlights

One of the standout wraps was the Toyota Hiace 4×4, which featured Aboriginal-inspired graphics printed in deep blues and charcoal greys. The floating, non-connected elements of the artwork required careful positioning across uneven vehicle surfaces, while still achieving perfect spacing and balance.

Other highlights included:

  • Hardware removal on some vehicles to wrap behind handles and trims, increasing durability and visual cleanliness
  • Split-panel graphic alignment, especially across sliding van doors and contoured bus panels
  • Consistency in colour and scale across all four vehicle types, despite differing shapes and sizes

Each wrap was completed to the highest standard, with precise cuts, seamless overlaps, and fully post-heated edges to lock in the material.

Key Materials Used

To ensure both visual impact and long-term durability across this mixed-use fleet, we used:

  • High-quality printable wrap vinyl, ideal for commercial and government vehicles
  • Gloss protective laminate, providing UV resistance and extra scratch protection
  • Colour-calibrated digital printing, which helped faithfully reproduce the client’s custom artwork — especially the culturally significant Aboriginal motifs
  • Careful surface prep and hardware removal, ensuring maximum adhesion and a clean finish on both newer and older vehicles

Each wrap was installed at our dedicated facility in Perth, using controlled workshop conditions to minimise dust, imperfections, and alignment issues.

  • Faster turnaround for multiple vehicles
  • Easier maintenance and future updates
