Partial Vehicle wrap - Ford Ranger Raptor for kiphone

Custom Partial Vehicle Wrap for KiPhone

Subtle Branding | Iridescent Highlights | Custom Ford Ranger Wrap

Bringing premium branding to the Pilbara with a rugged Ranger that’s built to stand out — subtly.

For a lot of companies, vehicle branding is about big graphics and loud messaging. But for others, like KiPhone, the best statement is one that doesn’t scream. It’s smart, sharp, and intentionally understated — and when you’re running a trusted tech service across the Pilbara, a Ford Ranger Raptor with the right kind of branding can speak volumes without saying too much.

This project was a partial vehicle wrap completed right here at Vinyl Wrapz Perth for one of KiPhone’s key vehicles. The goal? Take a powerful Raptor and give it an identity that reflects the business — modern, bold, and confident — while still keeping it clean and professional.

We designed, printed, and installed a layout that combined matte black wrap film with KPMF’s green-black iridescent vinyl — chosen for its subtle colour-shifting ability that echoes KiPhone’s branding. With 8 gallery images to showcase the result, this vehicle now serves as a strong and moving brand ambassador across WA’s north-west.

About the Client: KiPhone

KiPhone is a mobile technology and repair provider based in Karratha, servicing the wider Pilbara region. They’re known for fast turnaround, high-quality parts, and a sharp, professional brand presence — from their website to their store fit-out.

While most of their work happens inside phone shops or onsite jobs, their vehicles are their most visible assets. And with long distances, rough roads, and high heat, those vehicles need to look good and hold up — even in the harshest WA conditions.

This particular Ranger Raptor is driven by one of the company’s directors and needed to reflect the brand with a personalised, sleek look. No excessive advertising. No clutter. Just a smart design that would look just as sharp parked at a job as it would pulling up to a client meeting.

Wrap Objective: A Tailored Partial Wrap, Not an Ad on Wheels

We approached this wrap differently from a full commercial layout. This wasn’t a billboard-style application — it was about precision, placement, and finish.

Our in-house design team created a layout that would work with the factory lines and stance of the Ranger Raptor, highlighting the vehicle’s unique presence while allowing the wrap to feel integrated, not just applied. The wrap included:

  • Hexagonal patterns and logo applications in iridescent green-black vinyl
  • Tailgate and side panel treatments with measured spacing
  • Minimalistic branding across the body — enough to turn heads without overwhelming the vehicle

The result is a layered visual experience. From certain angles, the branding fades into the black; at others, the green-black iridescence shines, catching light and revealing hidden shapes. That’s the kind of sophistication that suits a tech company like KiPhone — where detail matters.

Materials Used – Designed for Longevity and Visual Impact

To bring the design to life, we selected a mix of premium wrap films suited to both extreme heat and high-visibility detailing.

Primary materials included:

  • Matte black high-performance vinyl – providing a non-reflective, textured surface that forms the base of the wrap
  • KPMF green-black iridescent gloss vinyl – used sparingly for logos and hex shapes, shifting colour under light
  • Knifeless tape systems for clean, edge-free cutting around complex vehicle shapes

This combination delivers both visual impact and rugged durability, especially important in off-road or regional settings.

Design Highlights and Finishing Touches

The design was subtle — but the execution wasn’t. This wasn’t about filling every panel. It was about using space properly and matching the form and function of the vehicle.

Key highlights:

  • Hexagonal overlay on the rear tray and sides to echo KiPhone’s visual language
  • Tailgate layout balancing brand presence without overpowering factory aesthetics
  • Smart alignment of elements over door seams and body curves
  • Subtle curvature of vinyl cuts to match natural body lines
  • Balanced symmetry between driver and passenger sides for a uniform look

We even left some panels completely untouched to allow the matte black and factory paint to work together, letting light and texture do the storytelling.

Installation Process & Challenges

This job had a few tricky aspects — particularly due to the nature of the film and the remote location of the client.

Key challenges included:

  • Working with iridescent film in small cuts – it’s easy to distort and difficult to stretch consistently
  • Hexagonal precision – placement had to be near-perfect for it to look intentional
  • Remote client collaboration – KiPhone’s team is based in Karratha, so design approvals, proofs, and edits were handled remotely via video and screen share
  • Tight deadline – The vehicle needed to return north within days of delivery, so install had to be efficient without rushing

To ensure durability, all film edges were post-heated, sealed around edges and hardware, and given a 48-hour cure period before delivery.

Why Partial Wrap?

Partial wraps give clients flexibility. They’re more affordable than full wraps, but still deliver brand presence and protection. For a vehicle like the Ranger Raptor — already a high-spec factory design — this approach keeps the factory appeal intact while adding personality.

And from a business standpoint, it ticks every box:

  • Clear and confident brand identity
  • Durable materials built for heat and road wear
  • Visual consistency across fleet, even if others are wrapped differently
  • Minimal downtime
